The SKINOS rooms and apartment company is located in the village of Pyrgi, one of the 24 Mastic Villages of Chios, where the unique mastic product is produced. The medieval Pyrgi is also known as a painted village because of the exterior decoration of the houses with a special technique called XYSTA. PYRGI probably owes its name to the Genoese TOWER that dominated the center of the village in the past. An excellently preserved Byzantine monument is the church of the HOLY APOSTLES located near the beautiful village square. The port of Pyrgi is EMPORIOS, with two beaches of rare natural beauty, MAVROS GIALOS (MAVRA VOLIA) and FOKI. At the archaeological site of Emporios, the settlement of early historical times (8th century B.C.) can be visited. Next to Pyrgi is built in perfect harmony with the environment, the CHIOS MASTIC MUSEUM, where the visitor can be fully informed about the history of mastic and mastic producers. The entire village is a monument, where the impressive buildings, the narrow and picturesque streets, make up the image of this beautiful location. But above all, PYRGI is its people, the PYRGUSAINES and PYRGOUSIANS, who stand out for their spontaneity, their unique humor, their dynamism and their free spirit!!!!

The tree that produces the mastic is called SKINOS or PIXARI and it is an evergreen shrub that lives over 100 years.

The central square of Pyrgi is located a 2-minute walk from the accommodation. All year round, and especially in the summer, it is a meeting point for residents and visitors. Important local events are very often organized there.

In the square you will find restaurants, cafe bars, traditional cafes, tourist items and various other small shops.
